Making a referral

Anyone who has been sexually abused or raped or, in certain circumstances, their non abusing family members whatever age or gender can be referred to Family Matters whether that referral comes from an individual, voluntary groups or the statutory sector e.g. GP's. Social Services, Mental Health Teams, police etc.

The procedure is simple and requires only a phone call to the Family Matters HQ office or the Helpline.

Family Matters Office 01474 536661 (Office Hours) answer-phone
Helpline 01474 537392 (Most weekdays) answer-phone

Once the phone call is made an assessment form will be sent to the client. It is the return of this completed form that starts the system.

Please note that we may not be able to see all applicants due to demand or the availability of therapists. Our ethical framework requires that we work within our competency and this too can place restrictions on the people we can offer a service to. Should you be refused a service we will endeavour to explain the reasons and provide information on alternative options where possible.

Special note to statutory referrers

We would be grateful if you would send us a summary of any risk assessment completed on a client referred.

Family Matters service is free. However, all donations are gratefully received. Please see our making a donations page.
